The M32-60-BLDC-B series is a 32mm diameter brushless DC motor with an integrated fail-safe electromagnetic brake, featuring a motor body length of 60mm plus a compact brake unit. This integrated brake motor solution is specifically designed for applications requiring position holding, fall prevention, or emergency stopping capabilities. The combination of high-efficiency brushless motor technology with a reliable spring-engaged brake makes this platform ideal for safety-critical applications in robotics, medical equipment, industrial automation, and material handling systems.
The M32-60-BLDC-B delivers motor rated torque from 0.15 to 0.35 Nm with peak torque up to 0.9 Nm, depending on winding selection. No-load speeds range from 2,000 to 10,000 RPM, allowing designers to optimize for either high-speed or high-torque applications. The integrated brake provides a static holding torque of at least 0.8 Nm, ensuring reliable position hold even under load. The brushless motor design provides high efficiency (up to 86%), reducing heat generation and improving energy economy compared to brushed alternatives.
The integrated electromagnetic brake operates on a spring-engaged, electrically-released principle, making it fail-safe. When power is applied to the brake coil, the magnetic field overcomes the spring force and releases the brake, allowing free motor rotation. When power is removed—whether intentionally or due to a power failure—the spring immediately engages the brake, stopping and holding the motor shaft. This fail-safe characteristic is essential for vertical lift applications, robotic arms with gravity-loaded axes, and any system where unintended motion could cause damage or injury. Brake engagement time is less than 50ms, and release time is less than 100ms, providing rapid response for dynamic applications.
The brushless architecture eliminates the mechanical brushes found in conventional DC motors, removing the primary wear component and substantially extending operational life. With a rated motor lifetime of 15,000+ hours under typical operating conditions, this motor offers three times the service life of equivalent brushed motors. The absence of brush arcing also reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI), enabling reliable integration with sensitive electronic control systems. Low cogging torque design ensures smooth rotation even at very low speeds, critical for precision positioning applications.
Three integrated Hall-effect sensors provide commutation feedback to the electronic speed controller, enabling smooth startup, accurate speed regulation, and instantaneous direction changes. The Hall sensors ensure reliable starting under load conditions and stable performance across the entire operating speed range. For applications requiring closed-loop speed or position control, an optional magnetic or optical encoder with resolution up to 1,024 PPR can be integrated on the rear shaft extension behind the brake unit.
The 60mm motor body combined with the compact brake unit provides adequate surface area for heat dissipation. Double-shielded ball bearings on both motor ends ensure low friction and long service life even under continuous duty. Dynamic balancing of the rotor assembly minimizes vibration. The housing can be specified with IP54 protection for demanding environments. Insulation is Class F (155°C) as standard.
The brake unit is designed for reliable long-term operation, with a minimum of 10,000 engagement cycles. Brake coil insulation is Class B (130°C) rated, and the brake is designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -10°C to +60°C. For applications requiring higher temperature operation, consult factory for high-temperature brake options.
OEM customers can specify motor winding voltage and speed/torque characteristics, shaft diameter (5mm, 6mm, or 8mm), shaft length, and end configurations including flat, keyway, or D-cut. Brake voltage (12V or 24V) and power consumption can be selected based on system requirements. Gearbox attachments (planetary or spur) with reduction ratios from 3:1 to 100:1 are available for torque multiplication. Custom lead wire length and connector terminations (Molex, JST, AMP, Deutsch, or custom) are supported. Encoder integration and IP54 sealing are available for volume orders.
Each M32-60-BLDC-B motor undergoes 100% final inspection including no-load speed, no-load current, Hall sensor functionality, brake engagement and release testing, holding torque verification, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and vibration testing. Production follows ISO 9001:2015 quality management processes. RoHS and REACH compliance documentation is available. Sample motors with matched electronic speed controllers are available for engineering evaluation.
