22mm Metal Brush DC Motor – 60mm Length, High Torque, Extended Life
The M22-60 series is a 22mm diameter metal brush DC motor with an extended 60mm body length. Compared to shorter 22mm motors (such as 30mm body versions), the additional 30mm of stack length accommodates a longer rotor with more windings and a larger magnet system. This translates directly into higher stall torque (up to 120 mNm) and improved continuous torque capability, making the M22-60 suitable for applications that demand more power without increasing motor diameter.
The extended 60mm body allows for significantly higher torque density than shorter-frame motors. Stall torque reaches up to 120 mNm depending on winding selection, with no-load speeds ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 RPM. The larger commutator diameter (compared to 30mm body versions) reduces current density on brush contact surfaces, extending brush life to 3,000+ hours under typical operating conditions. Starting torque is exceptionally high, making this motor ideal for applications requiring rapid acceleration from standstill, such as door locks, valve actuators, and pump drives.
The longer 60mm housing provides increased surface area for passive heat dissipation, allowing the motor to handle higher continuous current loads without overheating. Ventilation slots can be added to the housing for forced air cooling in demanding applications. Bearings are sintered bronze as standard, with ball bearing upgrades available for applications requiring lower friction, higher radial loads, or extended service intervals. Insulation is rated Class B (130°C) with Class F (155°C) available for high-temperature environments.
OEM customers can specify shaft diameter (3.0mm, 3.17mm, or 4.0mm), shaft length, and end configurations including flat, cross-hole, D-cut, knurling, or gear cutting. Gearbox attachments (planetary or spur) with reduction ratios from 3:1 to 1,000:1 are available. For position feedback, magnetic or optical encoders (up to 512 PPR) can be integrated. Custom lead wire length, connector terminations (Molex, JST, AMP), and EMI suppression components (capacitors, varistors) are supported for volume orders.
Each M22-60 motor undergoes 100% final inspection including no-load speed, no-load current, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and mechanical runout testing. Production follows ISO 9001:2015 quality management processes. RoHS and REACH compliance documentation is available.
