The M13-20 series is a 13mm diameter metal brush DC motor with an ultra-compact body length of just 20mm. Designed for applications where space is extremely limited but reliable performance is required, this miniature motor delivers a balance of speed, torque and efficiency. The metal brush commutation system offers a proven, cost-effective solution for intermittent duty cycles and moderate volume production across medical, consumer, and industrial markets.
Despite its compact 13×20mm envelope, the motor achieves stall torque up to 3.5 mNm with no-load speeds ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 RPM depending on the chosen winding. The metal brush structure provides consistent electrical contact under normal operating conditions. Multiple voltage variants (1.5V to 12V) allow integration into battery-operated portable devices as well as low-voltage control systems.
The motor features a precision-drawn steel housing with a lightweight design under 9 grams, making it ideal for handheld and wearable applications where weight is critical. The commutator is precisely ground for smooth brush interaction, reducing sparking and extending brush life. Sintered bronze bearings provide low friction and quiet operation. Dynamic balancing of the rotor assembly minimizes vibration, important for handheld devices where user comfort matters.
OEM customers can specify shaft diameter (1.5mm, 2.0mm, or 2.3mm), shaft length, and end configurations including flat or D-cut. For electrically noisy environments, optional filtering capacitors can be added across the terminals. Custom lead wire length and connector terminations are supported for volume orders. Gearbox attachments (planetary or spur, as small as 8mm diameter) are available to reduce output speed and increase torque.
Each motor undergoes 100% final testing for no-load speed, current and mechanical runout. The M13-20 series is RoHS compliant and manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 processes. Custom winding configurations are supported for volume orders. Sample motors are available for engineering evaluation.
